guns

When a terribly disturbed young man was taking 32 lives in the US, what do you think was happening in Japan, where “regulations on handgun ownership are among the tightest in the world”?

What about that saying: Guns don’t kill, People do

We can talk about gun control, but what about looking at the people with histories of antisocial behaviour? What about looking at the cause of the behaviour?

In Richmond..

A moment of silence

Here in Malaysia, one of the TV networks ran an sms poll asking viewers whether they think the US gun culture played a major role in what became the Virginia Tech tragedy.

I thought to myself, ‘what does the average Malaysian really know about US gun culture, except what they see in the media, from films to news to songs on the radio.?

For that matter, what do I know about it.’ I’m from the suburbs, had a pretty sheltered childhood. I lived in NYC for fifteen years and by the grace of God, I rarely came into contact with this “gun culture”.

So, it’s time I read up on it. Then, perhaps I’ll post on the subject again. I’d feel better about it once I’ve educated myself on the subject. Then again, all over the net everyone is already talking about it. Maybe the talk needs to move from the net to the courthouse…

Pro-Gun Bills Marching Through Texas Legislature!

But

Meanwhile in Houston…

By the way, Malaysians think US gun culture is to blame for the violence that occurred in Virginia this week.

Like I said, I’m ignorant about the US gun culture that the world is glaring at lately, but from what I can see it seems that preventing the violence does not simply boil down to one simple solution. It is one that is complex. What is simple to see is that something needs to be done without further delay. It seems as if you’re not safe at the post office, at school, or at work.

As always, your comments are greatly appreciated.
