Barry’s Been Busy

I’d like to congratulate my cousin Barry on the completion and release of the book he co-authored entitled:

Background Screening and Investigations: Managing Hiring Risk from the HR and Security Perspectives. I haven’t kept up with him over the years and only knew that he was somewhere on the west coast. Well he’s been quite the traveler, quite the educator/trainer. There is so much I did not know about my cousin Barry, Executive Director of the National Institute for Prevention of Workplace Violence, Inc. He served as the Workplace Violence Prevention consultant for the State of California for over nine years, providing consulting and training to managers and employees. Some of his other clients include Gillette, Canon, Beckman-Coulter, CA Department of Transportation, Southern California Edison, Orange County Sanitation, National Transit Institute, City of Pasadena, Blue Shield Foundation, Macy’s, Peterson Brothers Construction, District of Columbia Water & Sanitation Authority, etc. He also teaches human resource management courses at several universities.

His book describes all aspects of the employment background screening processes - its history and evolution, the necessity of implementing a screening process, and the creation of a comprehensive policy. Barry and his co-author show how security and human resources professionals can cooperate with each other to overcome legal obstacles facilitating successful screening processes.

I’ve come out of blogger hibernation to post this information about him for the benefit of the younger generation. May God bless them with the realization of the unique qualities they have to offer this world, and may they strive to be the best they can be in their chosen field.
